About Us

The Nutrition Education Program (NEP) helps families on a limited budget make healthier food choices and choose physically active lifestyles by acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior changes necessary to improve their health. NEP is free to all participants who meet income guidelines. Additionally, NEP participates in Policies, Systems and Environmental (PSE) strategies that impact communities. These strategies include school wellness, community and school gardens, healthy food pantries, and child care center wellness. Together with community partnerships, NEP strives to improve the health of Nebraskans.

This blog is written by the NEP team members from across the state of Nebraska. Our passions are healthy communities and healthy families. Recipes, tips and education shared on this blog are what we strive to do in our everyday lives to help us better serve you. So please, stick around and sign up to get an email on our latest post.

  1. Can someone please review the Cran-Apple Crisp recipe posted in November? The list of ingredients shows “4 tsp. minced garlic” (really?), but there’s no mention of the garlic in the recipe instructions. Not that I want there to be any garlic in my fruit crisp … Thanks!
